Wanna be Hip? Learn Hip Hop.

Hip Hop is more than MTV makes it out to be.

The popular dance is actually an infusion of international dance forms combined into one high-energy jive. Dictated by the music's beats, hip hop integrates funky steps into one smooth rhythm.

Instructor Michelle McDonald, a certified personal trainer and former NIPFL cheerleader, will teach the basic structure of the urban dance style. However, creativity is important to the dance form, and McDonald encourages personal interpretation of the music's beats during her M.A.C. West classes.

Hip Hop's roots come from such diverse influences as Afro-Cuban, salsa, African and North American dances. Capoera, a self defense disguised a s a dance introduced to Brazil by African slaves are similar to certain moves in hip-hop culture.

If you're a living room dancer or a weekend clubber,
this is M.A.C. West class for you. Learn how to add your own flavor to this popular dance form.
