Since the 1904 Olympics, the Missouri Athletic Club has been involved in American sporting events. A century later, the Club continues to hold a pivotal place in the national sport's arena.

On Friday, Jan. 6, one of the largest U.S. soccer celebrations will unfold within the walls of the Downtown Clubhouse: the Hermann Trophy, college soccer's version of the Heisman Trophy. Recently, the three male and female finalists were announced.

Wrapping up Fall Basketball
Find out who won the games and who shot the shots

The fall basketball leagues saw one of the most exciting finishes in league history. Two undefeated teams squared off on the final night of the league to decide the league championship. The team captained by Tim Van Rhein competed against the team captained by Randy Baker.

The big game attracted a crowd of spectators who took in the action. The event turned into a hoops extravaganza; a Basketball Happy Hour was held after the game in the Sportsman’s Club to add to the festivities.

A Lesson in Defense
Book your spot now in a Women's Self-Defense Course

If you've ever been nervous walking through an empty building or an abandoned street, this self-defense class is for you. In only four hours, M.A.C. West wants to help you learn important self-defense techniques.

Instructor Dan Moriarty will teach you and your gal pals the same self-defense techniques that police learn in the academy. On Tuesday, Feb. 28, round up your daughters and lady friends for an important lesson in defense. From 4:30 to 9:30 p.m., learn how to mentally and physically handle a threatening situation.

Join instructor Juli Willeman for a mandatory two-hour introduction class on Tuesday, Jan 10, 5:45-7:45 p.m. In the next six weeks, build up your core strength with a one-hour class at 5:45 p.m. The introduction class costs $35, and the six-week session costs $120.
