Wrapping up Fall Basketball at the M.A.C.
|
The fall basketball leagues saw one of the most exciting finishes in league history. Two undefeated teams squared off on the final night of the league to decide the league championship. The team captained by Tim Van Rhein competed against the team captained by Randy Baker.
The big game attracted a crowd of spectators who took in the action. The event turned into a hoops extravaganza; a Basketball Happy Hour was held after the game in the Sportsman’s Club to add to the festivities.
Van Rhein’s squad captured the championship in a hard-fought game. Other members of the championship team were Brent Beumer, Terry Egger, David Robnett, Rich Sauget Jr., and Korbin Tacony. Joel Karsten, Ryan Robertson, Sean Boles and Van Rhein were among the leading scorers in the league.
In the Wednesday Night League at Downtown, Paul Rasmussen, Jack Donovan, David Gamache and Carl Winters were among the top scorers in the league.
The Wednesday Night Over-40 League crowned two teams as champions. The group captained by Bill Winkeler and the team captained by Joe Raymond tied for the league championship. Other members of Winkeler’s squad were Gerry Burns, David Gamache, Bert Linton, Byrnne Smith, Steve Trulaske, Charlie Wittenberg and Jim Yates. Raymond’s teammates were Steve Adams, Irl Engelhardt, Paul Maddock, Paul Rasmussen, Nat Walsh and Gary Wideman.
In the Thursday Night League at M.A.C. West, the Braves posted a 7-2 record to capture the league championship. The team was sparked by Pat Hoene who led the league in scoring. The Braves were captained by Allen Schneider. Other members of the team were J.R. Mayer, Jeff Hutson, Charlie Vogt, Duke Neidringhaus, Fred Rauch, Seth Fagan and James Lu.
