M.A.C. Toastmasters move West

They walk with confidence and talk with authority. They don't fidget or appear nervous. In short, the M.A.C. Toastmasters are impressive.

If this is the kind of self-assurance you're looking for, look no further. Beginning Tuesday, April 4, M.A.C. Toastmaster meetings will be more accessible to all members. The group will hold two meetings a week. Downtown meetings will be at their regular time: Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the third floor St. Louis/Chouteau Room. The new West meetings will be on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The M.A.C. Toastmasters is an accredited organization that's part of a much larger network. Recently, the M.A.C. group became a chartered member of Toastmasters International. Since the Toastmasters started at a San Diego YMCA in 1924, the worldwide organization has helped nearly four-million people conquer their fear of public speaking. With more than 200,000 members in 10,000 clubs spread across 90 countries, the Toastmasters is the most affordable, efficient way to communicate better.

The M.A.C. Toastmasters will help you nurture your confidence by providing a structured, supportive environment in which to practice your public speaking skills. Each meeting, many members are involved, either by serving as head toastmaster, giving a prepared speech or timing all the speeches. Three members give prepared speeches every meeting. Another three members evaluate these speeches. Even the evaluators are evaluated! Everyone who speaks receives constructive criticism and there's a constant drive for improvement. By counting your "uhs" and timing your presentations, the M.A.C. Toastmasters provide quantitative numbers to gauge your improvement.

Through the M.A.C. Toastmasters, you'll become a better listener, deliver more effective presentations, conduct more productive meetings and give more constructive evaluations. The group invites you to visit a meeting at either location in order to better understand what the organization has to offer.
