Understanding the Animal Planet
Dr. Dolittle takes audiences to the magical animal kingdom

|
Do you sometimes look at your dog, cat or goldfish and think, “What would he say to me right now if he could talk?” If so, you may have a translator. A traveling veterinarian who can speak with animals is coming soon to the Fox Theatre.
The Entertainment, Travel and Culture Club is sponsoring a Fox Theatre outing to Dr. Dolittle the musical on Thursday, May 25. There are now two ways to enjoy this lighthearted production. For $125, get tickets to see the show, dinner at the Jack Buck Grille and transportation to the Fox on the M.A.C. shuttle. If it’s just the tickets you want, you can purchase them through the M.A.C. for $47.50 each.
Dr. Dolittle is a glorious fairytale that makes an effective connection between children and animals. Ann Hould-Ward (The Beauty and the Beast, Into the Woods) designed costumes that actually capture the souls of the animals. Based on the original book’s (by Hugh Lofting) illustrations, Ward created different styles of puppetry to imitate the drawings. Actors playing fully realized animals, hand puppets, marionettes and enormous flying animals give the theatre a magical touch.
The enchanting songs and dances, ornate costumes and energetic actors bring the fictional story to life. Tony Award winner Tommy Tune gives the veterinarian Dr. Dolittle a vivacious love for animals that has captivated audiences across the United States. The charming score includes "When I Look in Your Eyes," "I've Never Seen Anything Like It" and the Academy Award-winning song "Talk to the Animals."
Dr. Dolittle is more than an extraordinary adventure; the fanciful tale conveys an important message for children and adults alike: Animals are soulful creatures and have feelings too. Don’t miss this miraculous evening full of magnificent animals and courageous human beings. To order tickets, please call 314-539-4402. |
