On one special day every year, the downtown clubhouse buzzes with excitement. M.A.C. Election Day is a unique, traditional Club event, and for members it's one of the best days of the year.

On Thursday, May 4, hundreds of M.A.C. members will head downtown for Election Day. After a complimentary dinner and dozens of campaign promises, five new members will be elected to the Board of Governors. They will serve a three-year term from 2006-08.

M.A.C. Election Day celebrates old-time politics and democracy at its best. Voters who come 3 to 6 p.m. can walk through the famed gauntlet, which corrals members through a stretch of handshakes and pleas for votes. When they reach the voting booth at the end of the gauntlet, members make their five final decisions.

Election night is a celebration of the past, present and future of the Club. It's an evening for the members to show their Club spirit and enjoy the close camaraderie at the M.A.C. Those who attend will be treated to a traditional, complimentary buffet. There will also a great door prize: one year of free membership dues.

All Resident, Associate, Life, Emeritus Life and Fellowship members in good standing are eligible to vote. Members must have their membership card with them to enter the Club on Election Day. Guests will not be admitted into the Club after 3 p.m.

All members are encouraged to come to the Club and vote in person on May 4. It is one of the great M.A.C. traditions. However, if you are unable to attend, members can vote via the mail. Mail-in ballots will be mailed to the membership by noon on Tuesday, April 25. They must be received at the Club on Wednesday, May 3, by 5 p.m.
