Beat the Heat at Fair St. Louis
Head to the downtown clubhouse during Fourth of July festivities

Make the downtown clubhouse your home base for Fair St. Louis this year. Amid the parades, activities and music, heat and hunger may cause cranky kids and tired adults. Refuel with a meal and refreshments at your downtown headquarters, the M.A.C.

On Saturday, July 1, and Tuesday, July 4, spend the day at Fair St. Louis with the family. This year, a number of big name entertainers and educational activities will keep everyone busy all day long. Cap off the event with a leisurely dinner at the Club and a trip to the M.A.C. roof where you can catch the most impressive fireworks display around.

HOT TIP: Dress in light colors and spend some time out of the sun at the M.A.C.

Fair Saint Louis Schedule

VP Parade, Saturday July 1
The Veiled Prophet Parade is a tradition that outdates even the Missouri Athletic Club. The VP Parade began in 1878 and today attracts hundreds of thousands of people. Every year it passes by the downtown clubhouse, and for M.A.C. members the two traditions are intertwined. This year, catch hundreds of professionally designed floats outside the downtown clubhouse.

Festivities begin at 10 a.m. Bleachers will be placed on the north side of Washington Ave., west of the Valet parking entrance. Only M.A.C. members and their guests will be able to sit on the bleachers. When nightfall hits, the M.A.C. roof will open a half hour before fireworks begin and close immediately after the display. The fireworks are scheduled at 9:30 p.m.

This year's parade theme is “Lettuce Entertain You,” a light-hearted tribute to the tradition of entertainment that has marched through the 129 years of Veiled Prophet parades. Click here for more information about the parade.

NOTE: Members and guests are required to wear a wristband on the day of the VP Parade. Wristbands are now available at the downtown Front Desk. Members can get eight wristbands in advance and additional wristbands can be obtained the day of the parade.

Fair St. Louis has proven to be great publicity for the city. For the past few years, the event has been featured on national television. Public Relations is exactly why St. Louis businessman Robert Hermann helped organize the riverfront fair in 1981. In 1994 the fair was renamed Fair St. Louis.
