Irish Eyes Are Smiling About Notre Dame Sweep
Notre Dame's Lapira and Hanks Win
Missouri Athletic Club’s Hermann Trophy
The University of Notre Dame duo of sophomore forward Kerri Hanks and junior forward Joseph Lapira are the winners of the 2006 Missouri Athletic Club’s Hermann Trophy, presented to the top female and male players in NCAA Division I soccer. This marks the first time since the M.A.C. began awarding both a men’s and women’s award in 1991, that players from the same school have won the award in the same year.

Hanks and Lapira share more in common than playing for the Fighting Irish. They each led the nation in goal scoring this season. The winners were decided by a vote of NCAA Division I soccer coaches who are current members of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

Attend a Book Club Luncheon on Dec. 8
Even the most successful business owners will someday leave their company. Ned Minor, author of Deciding to Sell Your Business, has dedicated his life to this simple fact. On Friday, Dec. 8 he’s heading to the M.A.C. to give members and their business associates important insights on business ownership. Regardless of future plans, all St. Louis business leaders should attend this important event. Minor will address how to adequately prepare for the day of inevitable departure and how to resolve the conflicting personal and emotional issues that make the decision to leave so difficult.

Turkey Tourney Results Squash Pro Scott Denne says the Turkey Tourney on Nov. 22 was a great event with about 30 players coming out. Players from all standards competed in handicapped games with the players getting three matches and the highest scoring players winning the event. In the end Bud King looked like he was going to take away the 20 lb. bird, but junior Mike Niemann ended up with a good score against Gary Schell in the last round and took the turkey home much to his dad’s delight! Scott is looking forward to the next squash event at the M.A.C. which is the Top 16 invitational tournament.

2007 Charities After receiving nominations from members, the Charitable Society Committee met the first week of November to narrow the submissions to three. Because each nominated organization was so worthy, the committee had a hard time choosing only three. They tried to choose charities that would most directly benefit from the amount of funds the M.A.C. Charitable Society is able to donate at this time. The three chosen charities for 2007 are: Dream for a Day, Places for People and Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition. Click here for more about the 2007 charities.
