Engelbrecht Elected President of the M.A.C.
Four other officers named
Scott Engelbrecht, Principal in Charge Larson Allen, CPAs, St. Louis, has been elected the 92nd president of the Missouri Athletic Club.
The Club’s 15-member Board of Governors elected Engelbrecht and the other incoming senior officers Thursday, March 1. All will begin a one-year term of office in late May.
Engelbrecht, 40, has been a member of the M.A.C. since 1999. He and his wife Julie have two daughters, Sarah and Caroline. Engelbrecht graduated from Missouri State with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Engelbrecht has served as chairman of the M.A.C. Finance Committee. He has also served on the Membership and Nominating committees. Engelbrecht is active in athletics and fitness at the Club.
Elected first vice president was Justin Williamson; elected second vice president was Jon Gustafson; elected secretary was David Pentland and treasurer was Carwin Lindenbusch. Engelbrecht will succeed Rick Lodewyck as president.

M.A.C. Family Club Heads to the Ballpark
 Attention Parents! The M.A.C. Families has planned a day at the ballpark just for you. On Saturday, April 28, moms and dads can get a baby sitter and head to Busch Stadium to root for the home team in style. The M.A.C. Families has arranged for an outing to enjoy the Cardinals first home stand against the not so lovable losers from Chicago, the Cubs. You can catch the action from the comfort of an air-conditioned private box. It will include a personal bartender, beverages and most importantly – a fun group of M.A.C. parents! Come join in to cheer on the World Champion Red Birds.

It's Easy Being Green
Plant Expert to Speak at FYC Meeting
Roger Beachy, Ph.D., president of the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, will be the featured guest speaker at the M.A.C. Forever Young Club monthly meeting on Friday, March 16 at M.A.C. West.
Beachy previously held academic positions at Washington University, and the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, Calif. His research includes projects to reduce virus infection in plants via biotechnology and in studies of control of gene expression in plants.

The Sound of Music
M.A.C. Introduces New Concert Series
Almost everyone can appreciate music, whether it's rap, country or soul. This spring, the M.A.C. wants to help its members foster their own music appreciation through a concert series. In March, April and May, the M.A.C. will be heading to the local music venues for three different concerts: Johnny Mathis, Billy Joel and Rod Stewart. Although prices vary, all shows include a three-course dinner, a glass of house wine, a premier ticket to the concert and transportation to and from the concert grounds.

M.A.C. FYC Travel News

If you've been looking to get out of town for a day, here's your chance. On Thursday, April 12, the Forever Young Club is heading to Cuba, Mo. for a "Viva Cuba" day trip. There are still a few seats available on the M.A.C. bus. Don't miss this chance to view historical murals painted on the buildings in honor of their sesquicentennial, have lunch at Bob's Gasoline Alley and take a museum tour.

New Yoga Session to Begin If strengthening your cardiovascular system, toning and stretching your muscles and improving your mental fitness are what you are looking for, then yoga is for you! The new yoga session will begin on Monday, April 16. Classes will be held from noon to 1 p.m. every Monday for eight weeks. All skill levels are welcomed, but space is limited. Saturday Spinning The M.A.C. has added a two-hour Saturday spinning class at the Downtown Clubhouse (members are not required to stay the entire time). Join the fun on March 10 and 24 from 8 to 10 a.m. This new class will be taught for the entire two hours, but members don’t have to feel pressure to spin the whole time if they can’t. The class is $6 for non-Diamond Club/Fellowship members. |
