Good Fun on Good Friday
Rod and Gun Club Heads to Maramec
Fish is the feast of Good Friday, so what better way to spend the day than fishing? The Rod and Gun Club is planning its annual Good Friday expedition to Maramec Springs on Friday, April 6. Don't miss this great opportunity for a one-day trout fishing outing, which ends with a fresh catch feast!

Your day will begin early Friday at 4:45 a.m. The group will depart from the commuter lot at Highways 44 and 109 near the Quick Trip in Eureka and arrive to Maramec in time to make the whistle at 6 a.m. (no one wants to miss the whistle). After fishing for several hours hopefully everyone will limit out! This trip will also feature a visit to the fish hatcheries and other sights around the park. Everyone will depart St. James late morning. After a slight detour to an annual drinking hole to celebrate their catches, you'll head to M.A.C. West for a steam and shower while Chef Matt prepares the freshly caught trout for lunch. He has done an excellent job of this over the past years, and it's truly a real treat.

Maramec Springs is roughly 95 miles away in Phelps County, eight miles from St. James. Originally the site of the first successful ironworks west of Mississippi, Maramec is today an exceptionally beautiful spring. It mostly stocks Missouri strain rainbow trout, though there are some brown trout swimming about.
