Beyond Business:
Take Charge of Your Health
Are you concerned about your health? Should you be? In the battleground of business, great leadership is required to build strong, healthy organizations. Unfortunately, you too often neglect your health. You may have hidden health problems; 70 percent of CEOs do.
Dr. Larry Ohlhauser, physician and experienced CEO, has a personal passion for helping individuals develop greater insight into how they can improve their health.
Ignoring the feeling of slight shortness of breath was easy, but once the chest pain started, it became more difficult for Dr. Ohlhauser to ignore any longer, or so you would have thought. As a medical doctor he knew the symptoms of heart problems, but denied that they were happening to him. Finally the message became clearer, overweight and out of shape - he had to take charge of his health before it was too late. Taking the advice he had given to his own patients for years, Dr. Ohlhauser set out to re-shape himself and now his audience about the consequence of their health decisions.
Balance is what health is all about, according to Ohlhauser's new book, The Healthy CEO. While it is aimed at CEOs and business leaders, the book is meant for people of all ages. "It's about becoming CEO of your own health," explains Ohlhauser.
How does he define healthy? "Healthy is a balance between your physical wellness, your relational wellness and your financial wellness," he says, listing the three major focuses of the book. "All of these things are interrelated."
On Wednesday, May 9, the M.A.C. Book Club offers the opportunity to hear from Dr. Ohlhauser about his new book. Using his personal wake-up call he will demonstrate how wellness strategies and a practical approach to your most critical assets, yourself, can pay-off, whether in the board room or in the trenches.
The luncheon will begin at 11:45 a.m. in the Crystal Room at the Downtown clubhouse, followed by a presentation by Dr. Ohlhauser at 12:30 p.m. Following the event, books will be available for sale and Dr. Ohlhauser will sign books. The price is $20, plus gratuity. Call 314-539-4470 for reservations.
