The arrival of legendary coach Rick Majerus has Billiken basketball fans buzzing with anticipation. On Friday, Sept. 14, the Missouri Athletic Club will have the privilege of being the site of Coach Majerus’ first public appearance in St. Louis at a special luncheon. Don’t miss your chance to meet Coach Majerus and hear about the future of SLU Basketball while enjoying a delicious lunch at the Club.

With the addition of Coach Majerus to the team, as well as the new on-campus arena construction that is already underway, the future is promising for the SLU basketball team. Coach Majeruswill bring along some of his assistant coaches and players to preview the upcoming season. Don’t miss the Billiken Basketball Luncheon. The price is $30, inclusive. Registration begins at 11 a.m., followed by lunch at 11:30 a.m. and the program at 12:15 p.m. Call 314-539-4470 for reservations.

New Nutritionist Joins the West Staff

Need a little extra coaching to achieve your weight loss goals? Want some nutrition advice to help your health and keep you feeling great? West now has a nutritionist on staff to help you with all your nutritional questions and needs. Dave Vandeven is a registered and licensed dietician. He specializes in weight loss and sports nutrition. He also can provide nutritional educational information for those with diabetes, high blood pressure and other medical conditions. The key to a healthier lifestyle lies in your diet. Stop by the West Clubhouse and meet with Dave. Dave is at West Tuesdays from 4:30-6:30 p.m., Wednesdays, 9 a.m. – noon and the first Saturday of every month from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Contact Becky Keightley at 314-539-4428 to schedule a nutrition consult today.

New Yoga Session Downtown The new yoga session is forming now and will begin on Monday, Sept. 10th. Classes will be held from 12-1 p.m. every Monday for 8-weeks. To sign up, please notify Rick Schneider in Athletics, or call him at 314-539-4434.

Attention all MAC Basketball Players Registration time for the fall leagues is here.  Please go to the MAC web page to sign up. Click on the link below, and then click where it says basketball sign up http://www.mac-stl.org/athbasketball.htm. We will have an Open league on Monday and Tuesday night’s Downtown, a Master’s Over 40 league on Wednesday’s Downtown and an Open league out West on Thursday nights.  All leagues should begin the week of September 17th.  Sign up Early to guarantee a spot. The Open league may reach 12 teams this session.  Therefore, registration for the Open league will end when 96 players register or on August 31st.  Whichever comes first. Please sign up before the deadline of Friday, Aug. 31st! Cost of league: $60.00

Body Sculpt Class at West Registered Dietician David Vandeven will be teaching this 4-week course. David is a registered and licensed dietician. He also has a Masters of Science Degree in Nutrition and Physical Performance from St. Louis University. The class will be broken down into topics each week. Week 1 will cover nutrition basics and body composition; week 2, meal planning and supplements; week 3, exercise and effects; and week 4, top exercises to change your body. The class begins Tuesday, Sept. 18 and is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The cost is $100 for the 4-week session. Sign up for this at the front desk at West.
