Celebrate
Camaraderie on the 5th Floor
For
over 70 years members of the Club have been gathering one day a
year to celebrate camaraderie, eat free food and sip on cold, foamy
beer. Goodfellowship Day is one of the longest standing traditions
at the MAC. It began in the 1930s under the direction of Carl Bauer.
Today, this tradition still lives on, and on Saturday, Feb. 23,
MAC members will once again come together for friendly competition,
fun and friendship. Athletic activities will begin at 9 a.m. Members
have the option of competing in friendly competitions such as a
bench press battle, a three-point contest, closest-to-the-pin competition
and several swimming competitions. Appropriate events will be broken
up according to age, gender and weight. Members who wish not to
participate are still invited to come down and get in a good sweat
before lunch. Lunch will be served at 11 a.m. in the Sportsman’s
Club. If you have any questions, please call Rick Schneider at 314-539-4434
or Jeff Tuhro at 314-539-4485. |
Mix
and Mingle
Mix
and mingle with fellow members of the Club at a happy hour on Thursday,
Feb. 21, sponsored by the Associates. Don’t let the dreary
winter weather keep you indoors. The MAC is heating things up in
the Sportsman’s Club with drink and appetizer specials, music
and billiards. The happy hour begins at 5:30 p.m. There is no charge
to attend and members of all ages are encouraged to come. Draft
beers will be $2 and martinis will be $4. There will be plenty of
savory appetizers to fill your stomach. Make a new friend, visit
with old ones and enjoy your time at the Club. No reservations are
required. You are encouraged to bring a spouse, date or guest.

Battle
on the Court Supports Charities
Head
to West on Friday, Feb. 29, to watch MAC President Scott Engelbrecht,
Governor Margaret May and Governor David Pentland battle MAC tennis
pros on the courts. The players will be competing to raise money
for the three charities selected by the charitable society for 2008,
Sunnyhill Adventures, Sherwood Forest Camp Service and Covenant
House. The three charities will be on hand to tell you more about
what they do for the community and to answer any questions you may
have. The Charitable Society is asking for your donations for the
three charities. All monies will be pooled together and each tennis
player will represent a particular charity. The more games this
player wins, the more they will earn for their charity! Checks or
cash will be taken. This is also a great opportunity to socialize
and meet other members who are supporting the three charities. Games
will begin at 6:30 p.m. If you are unable to attend, you can still
make a donation by calling Sam Hopmeier at 314-434-5266 or mail
a donation in advance to: 13325 Bearfield Square Dr. Chesterfield,
MO 63017. Make checks payable to MAC Charitable Society. Put your
money on a winner—the Charitable Society! |
Changes
in Election Process
The
annual season of campaigning for election to the Board of Governors
of the Club is fast approaching. It is one of the most exciting
times of the year at the Club. This year the Board has approved
certain changes to the campaigning process that should be noted
by potential candidates and campaign workers. All of the changes
are intended to make the campaigning a bit less cumbersome and allow
more members to be involved in an election process that is truly
unique among clubs.
