Dive in to Summer Fun at West
Catch a movie under the stars from the coolest seat in town, the MAC West pool. On Friday, June 27, MAC West will host a Dive-In Movie. Bring a floatation device and dive on in to experience a movie like at the old drive-in theaters. The Dive-In Movie is a great way to share a fun evening with friends and family. The movie will begin at dusk. This free event includes popcorn and soda.

Wine and Dine at West
MAC West is hosting a special wine dinner on Tuesday, July 22. A representative from the Robert Sinskey Vineyards of the Stags Leap District of Napa, CA, will be at the Club to have an open discussion about their wines and other general wine issues. This is a unique opportunity for wine enthusiasts. The evening will also feature a three-course meal prepared by MAC Executive Sous Chef and Level 1 Sommelier Mathew Unger and the West Culinary staff. Each course will be carefully paired with Robert Sinskey wines to enhance the flavors of the food. Appetizers to taste upon arrival will also be paired with Robert Sinskey wines.  The event will start at 6:30 p.m., and first course will be served at 7 p.m. The cost to attend is $50, per person. Live Off the Levee Room Special
Live on the Levee isn’t letting a little rain spoil the fun. Due to flooding, this summer Live OFF the Levee will take place around Soldier’s Memorial, bounded by Tucker Blvd., on the east, Market Street on the south, Olive Street on the north and 15th Street on the west. A great line-up of musicians are scheduled to perform five weekends throughout July and August. Come enjoy the food, fun and entertainment and make a night of it downtown. The MAC is offering a Live Off the Levee room special. For just $60 per night, you can be within walking distance of the event. To reserve a room, please call the Front Desk at 314-231-7220. Also, while you’re out and about downtown, don’t forget about the MAC’s convenient dining facilities. Stop in to grab dinner before heading to Live Off the Levee or wake up the next morning and enjoy breakfast at the Club. Celebrate St. Louis with Live Off the Levee and the MAC.

Golf for the Whole Family
There are many activities at the Club that are just for adults or just for children, but golf is something the whole family can enjoy. The MAC offers seven area courses for you and your family to enjoy all summer long, including two country club experiences. Diamond Club members immediately have access to the special golf privileges. If you are not a Diamond Club member, but would like to sign up for golf privileges, contact Tara in Accounting at 314-539-4432. The fee is $300. If you’re looking for a little more instruction with your golf game, the Legends offers several clinics and programs for adults and children to improve their game. The MAC also has a youth golf camp, and the Bluffs has a youth summer program as well.

Stars and Stripes and the MAC
The nation's birthday is less than two weeks away, and chances are, you're making plans for the holiday. The MAC has a variety of activities for you and your family to celebrate the 4th. Begin your day with breakfast at the Downtown Clubhouse before catching the VP Parade from VIP seating. MAC members and guests will have a special bleacher section to themselves for prime viewing of the parade. The bleachers will be set up on the north side of Washington Ave., west of the Valet parking entrance. If you’re staying downtown following the parade, make the MAC your drink and dining headquarters for the day. The Sportsman’s Club and Jack Buck Grille will open throughout the day for lunch, dinner and drinks. **NOTE: Members and guests are required to wear a wristband on the day of the VP Parade. Wristbands are now available at the downtown Front Desk. Members can get eight wristbands in advance and additional wristbands can be obtained the day of the parade. After the parade, head to MAC West for a poolside party. There will be plenty of games and prizes for the kids, plus food and refreshing drinks for everyone. Stay cool at the MAC West pool. The pool party is from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. The price for adults is $20. Children age 3-12 cost $12. For reservations call 314-539-4490.

Member Accomplishments and Achievements
MAC member Tim Hampton was recently awarded the Boy Scouts of America Silver Beaver Award. This award is presented for distinguished service to young people within a Boy Scouts of America (BSA) council. Recipients must be a registered adult member of the BSA. Mr. Hampton has had a far reaching and long lasting commitment to scouting. He served as a Webelos den leader, Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, crew Advisor and unit commissioner for Pack, Troop and Crew 624, chartered to St. Clement’s Catholic Church. He has also served as Friends of Scouting community campaign chairman. Mr. Hampton extends his community involvement outside of the Boy Scouts organization. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Des Pres and the International Fellowship of Scouting Rotarians. He is also the De Smet Jesuit High School Men’s Club president and a Ballwin Jaycees volunteer Santa. In his professional life, Mr. Hampton is a Certified Financial Planner Professional and the first vice president-investment officer and portfolio manager at Wachovia Securities. He has been an MAC member since 2007 and is the father to two Eagle Scouts. Congratulations Mr. Hampton on this distinguished honor.

Pasta Special in the JBG
The Grille will feature a made to order pasta station and tossed salad prior to evening home games starting at 4:30 p.m. The price is $17.50
The Sportsman's Club will open at 11 a.m. on Monday-Friday when there is an afternoon Cardinals game.

The MAC Aviation Club has invited members of the Military History Club to join them in visiting the Boeing Prologue Room on June 24th. The Prologue Room is a visual display of Boeing/McDonnell Douglas history from it’s inception through the space age. Bob Craighead, formerly with Boeing, will give a tour of the Prologue Room. Joe Dobronski, former Chief Test Pilot for Boeing, is expected to attend and be available to chat with everyone. Interested persons may also travel by private vehicle.

Tuesday, June 24
The speaker for the month will be Mr. John Dragoni, Jr. who served in Vietnam as a United States Army Infantry Officer. He is the son of Mr. John Dragoni, Sr. who was our speaker at the March meeting. Former Captain Dragoni, Jr. was commissioned a 2LT in September 1969. He was then assigned as an instructor at the Infantry School at Ft. Benning. His next assignment took him to Berlin as a Train Commander processing U.S. Military trains through Soviet Checkpoints. In September 1971, 1LT Dragoni was assigned to the 196th Infantry Brigade, American Division at Da Nang, Vietnam as a Rifle Platoon Leader. He was involved in heavy combat operations and this will be the main topic of his talk.

Athletic Department Closure The Downtown Athletic Department will be closed on Friday, July 4 in observance of 4th of July.

Tomatoes Tomatoes served on salads, sandwiches and other menu items are the Club are safe to eat. The tomatoes are from Florida and not linked to salmonella.


Fit Camp Strengthen, condition, shape, tone and define muscles using light to moderate weights with high repetitions in the newest fitness class offered at the Downtown Clubhouse, Fit Camp. This total body workout class will include the use of free weights, steps and stability balls to work the major muscle groups in the body. The class appeals to men and women from beginners to the conditioned athlete. Class will be held on Monday evenings at 5:30 p.m. beginning on Monday, July 7. No reservations are necessary.
