MAC Golf Classic
Benefiting the MAC Preservation Foundation
The MAC Golf Classic is just a week away, but there is still time to sign up for this day of fun and friendly competition with fellow MAC members. The tournament will benefit the MAC Preservation Foundation, which is raising funds to support necessary structural improvement projects to the Downtown Clubhouse. The first annual Golf Classic will take place on Monday, Aug. 25, at the Country Club at the Legends. A portion of the tournament fee is tax deductible. Call 314-539-4470 for reservations.

Rams Buffet
Rams preseason action is in full swing, and the best place to be before heading to the Dome is the MAC. The Club has a delicious dinner buffet before the Aug. 23, preseason game from 5-7 p.m. in the Sportsman’s Club for only $25.95. Fill up before the game and get your Rams spirit up. The MAC is just a short walk away from the Dome. The Jack Bucke Grille bar will also be open from 5 p.m. – Midnight. Call 314-539-4470 for a reservation.

After School Sports Program
With schools back in session and your children sitting in classrooms all day, they need a way to burn off some of that extra energy. Sign your children up for one of the after school sports programs at MAC West. Each day of the week there is a different sport your child can participate in including kickball, street hockey, arts and crafts and soccer. Kids will play these games for an hour after school from 4:15-5:15 p.m. The cost is only $8 per child per day, or $5 per child for multiple children per day. If your child is looking for more specialty instruction, sign them up for one of the after school sports specialty programs. Basketball, soccer, cheerleading, baseball, volleyball and flag football are all available specialty programs and are held a different day of the week. The cost for specialty programs is $12 per child per day, or $9 per child for multiple children per day. Flag football is $135 per five-week session, beginning Sept. 21. Contact Coach Eric Saxton if you are interested in signing up at 314-539-4468.

Ballroom Dance Lessons
Learn a few new moves or perfect your step in the next session of Ballroom Dance Lessons at the Downtown Clubhouse. Professional ballroom dance instructor Susan Nyemchek will once again teach the lessons. Nyemchek is a knowledgeable and enthusiastic instructor who can get any couple out on the dance floor perfecting moves. She has a way of breaking down the steps into small achievable dances that in the end are all put together into one number. Lessons begin on Tuesday, Sept. 9, and continue on each Tuesday through Oct. 7. The price to attend is $50, inclusive for Dance Club members and $56, inclusive per person for non-Dance Club members. Call Courtney at 314-539-4402 for reservations.

West Health Test
The West Clubhouse will offer life saving screenings on Friday, Aug. 29. Life Line Screening, America’s leading provider of quality health screenings will administer these non-invasive, completely painless screenings.
Over 5 million people have participated in Life Line Screening’s ultrasound tests for stroke caused by artoid artery disease, abdominal aortic aneurysms and other vascular diseases. Cardiovascular disease is the #1 killer in the United States of both men and women – and a leading cause of permanent disability.
You may think that your physician would order these screenings if they were necessary. However, insurance companies typically will not pay for screenings, unless a person has suffered symptoms. Unfortunately, 50% of stroke victims have no symptoms. That is why having a Life Line Screening is so important to keep you and your loved ones healthy and independent.
Call 1-800-679-5192 for an appointment (pre-registration is required). If you sign up for all four screenings, you save $41 and pay only $129.

Capital Improvement Update
Repair work on the rooftop of the MAC Parking Garage has been completed. The work was to repair loose concrete and rusted re-bar underneath the concrete. Loose concrete was chipped away to expose the re-bars. The re-bar was then recoated and new concrete was poured over them. The roof also got a special traffic coating to stop future winter weather run off from getting to the re-bar. Lines were also repainted on the concrete.
