Who did Frankenstein take to the Prom?
His ghoul friend. Start practicing your jokes because Trunk-R-Treat is almost here. Dress your kids up in their goofiest, scariest and sassiest costumes and head to MAC West on Sunday, Oct. 26, from 4-7 p.m. Don’t forget your own costume. Little goblins and ghouls can participate in ghostly games and a costume contest. Families are also encouraged to dress up their cars for the “trunk-r-treat.” Plenty of food and drinks will be served. Make your reservations now or else you will be haunted by missing the party of the year. Call 314-539-4490. The cost is $12 for adults, $8 for children under 12 and gratis for children under 3.

Wine & Cheese Please!
If you are interested in learning more about pairing cheese with wine, then be sure to make your reservation now to attend the Cheese and Wine Pairing class with Lynne Devereux on Monday, Nov. 3, in the Art Lounge Downtown. With the holiday season fast approaching, this class will help you make your holiday gatherings more tasty and successful. In this class, you will learn some general guidelines and tips that will help you pair the right wines and cheeses. Lynne Devereux is visiting the Club from Napa Valley and brings a rich background in culinary expertise and food education. She is a specialist in artisanal cheese. This evening of education and fun begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Art Lounge. Come and sample some delectable cheeses and wines. The cost to attend is $65, per person, inclusive. This event is limited to the first 30 people, and space is still available. If you have a friend, family member or business associates who loves wine, this is the perfect event to bring them to and show them all that the Club has to offer. Call 314-539-4470 for a reservation. Or you can sign up online. Click here to enter the member login area.

Keep the Flu Away
Avoid the fevers, sniffles, aches and pains that flu season often brings by getting a flu shot. Each year 5-20% of the population gets the flu and more than 200,000 people are hospitalized from flu complications. You can reduce your chances of getting the illness by receiving a flu vaccine. About two weeks after receiving a flu shot, antibodies develop that protect against influenza virus infection. The MAC is offering you the opportunity to get your flu shot at either the Downtown or West Clubhouses. The cost is $25 and can be charged to your member account. Flu shots will be given at West on Thursday, Oct. 30, from 2-2:30 p.m. in the multi-sport facility. Shots at the Downtown Clubhouse will be given on Friday, Oct. 31, from 2-2:30 p.m. in the Empire Room.

Purchase Olympic Artwork

The art exhibit, courtesy of Fine Art Limited, on display in the lobby at the Downtown Clubhouse, will continue for the remainder of October.  Any and all Olympic artwork pieces on display are available for purchase for the special prices indicated. Each piece has a description of both the artist and of the work itself. Each piece on display is officially licensed and sanctioned by the U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC). Proceeds from the art sales will benefit the U.S. Olympians & Paralympians Association of Missouri & Illinois chapter. The mission of the organization is:

  • To support the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) in advancing United States Olympic ideals and competitions.
  • To assist Missouri/Illinois athletes in their training and preparations for athletic competitions and assisting them in participating in local and national competitions.
  • To promote and support local youth sports programs and assist those local organizations, institutions and corporations that are engaged in sponsoring local youth sports programs.

  • To maintain fellowship among Olympic competitors, officials, managers, coaches and trainers through association at meetings and by publications, correspondence or telephone devices.
  • To participate generally in charitable and educational activities.
