Apollos Musical Monopoly
The legendary MAC Apollos stole the show once again at their annual fall concert. This year’s show “Musical Monopoly” took members and their guests on a musical trip around the classic board game. Stops along the way included several well-known streets, railroads and utilities. The group had the audience singing along to tunes such as “Downtown,” “We’re in the Money,” “Under the Boardwalk,” and “Jailhouse Rock.”

Ring in 2009 at the MAC
Wondering where you will be as the clock counts down to midnight on Dec. 31? Why not ring in 2009 from the streets of New Orleans... or the Missouri Ballroom. The MAC always hosts the most glamorous New Year’s Eve Gala in town, and this year will be no different. This year’s New Year’s Eve Gala will feature a new theme “Mardi Gras Madness.” Don’t forget your feathers, masks and Mardi Gras beads. Drink all night long for just one price. An open bar is included in the cost, so you won’t have to worry about settling your tab at the end of the night or having enough cash for all of your drinks. Special hurricane drinks will also be available. This New Year’s Eve will really be the Big Easy! Arvell and Company will supply the music all evening long for dancing and entertainment. Arvell and Company has a traditional big band sound, but also incorporates a jazz feel that will have you on the dance floor all evening long. Revelers are encouraged to dress to the theme with lots of feathers, masks, beads and bright colors. Jacket and tie is required. Creative black tie is optional and a call to have fun with your look. Come in your tux with a bright colored cummerbund or pocket square or wear a wacky tie, and ladies don’t forget your glitz and glimmer. Creativity is encouraged so express the spirit of Mardi Gras in your outfit. The evening will begin at 7:30 p.m. with lavish hors d’oeuvres and an oyster/crawfish bar. Dinner will be served at 8:45 p.m., followed by dancing to entertainment by Arvell and Company. At 1 a.m. a continental breakfast will be served. The cost is $125, per person, plus gratuity. Call 314-539-4470 to make your reservation. Or you can sign up online. Click here to enter the member login area.
If you’re staying the night at the Club or looking for somewhere to continue celebrating the New Year the next day, the MAC is hosting a New Orleans Jazz Brunch on New Year’s Day. Feast on traditional New Orleans style food and relax to the entertainment of a smooth jazz band.
