January Cherry Diamond
The New Year has brought a new design to the Cherry Diamond magazine. Since the inception of the Club’s magazine in 1903, many changes have occurred, including several different names, sizes and design styles. The start of 2009 has brought new features and a fresh look to the magazine, while keeping many of the popular features from before. The new magazine design isn’t the only thing new at the Club this month. Several new fitness classes have been added, so there is no reason you can not keep your New Year’s resolutions. Be sure to check out the new feature Focus on Fitness to find out all the information about the latest classes and health opportunities at both Clubhouses. After a break over the holidays, the Clubs Within the Club are picking back up with a new session of dance lessons, bridge classes and a Valentine’s Ball. If you are looking to get involved at the Club, consider starting off small by joining a Club Within the Club. They are a great way to meet new friends at the Club. The holiday season was a busy one at the MAC. Families with anxious children packed both Clubhouses to see Santa before Christmas. Everyone was delighted to visit with St. Nick and let him know what they wanted for Christmas. Photos capturing some cheerful holiday moments can be found in this month’s issue. Start off your new year connected with the Club. Check out this month’s issue to find out all that is happening around the Diamond.

Start the New Year with Hard Body Yoga
Develop a strong, lean, flexible body without spending hours in the gym everyday with Hard Body Yoga. The latest session of Hard Body Yoga will begin on Monday, Jan. 5, at the Downtown Clubhouse.  If you are looking for a quick, quality workout, this class is for you! The class will be taught by Katie Ronshausen, an ACE certified Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer. Hard-Body Yoga is unlike your typical yoga class. The class combines strength training with yoga technique to create a strong physique in a one-hour class. During this class you will work every major muscle group several times over without ever having to pick up a single weight. All you need is your body, an open mind and a yoga mat, and you will discover what strong healthy bodies are made of! No reservations are necessary. For more information, call Rick Schneider at 314-539-4434.

A new session of afternoon yoga will begin on Monday, Jan. 5, at noon. Yoga tones muscles, prevents pains, and mentally strengthens the body. The 8-week yoga session costs $50 for the session or $10 per class. Reservations can be made by calling Rick Schneider at 314-539-4434.

Swim Faster, Farther and Better
Before you know it the snow will all have melted, temperatures will rise and it will be time again for the MAC West pool to open. Make sure your kids are prepared for the pool by signing them up for the free youth swim clinic at the Downtown Clubhouse. Children in first through either grade that already know how to swim, but would like to improve their techniques are encouraged to attend. The focus will be on swimming quality, not endurance. Instructor Richard Nix and his staff will once again teach the clinic. Classes will be held at the Downtown Clubhouse on Sundays, from 2 to 3 p.m. The six-week session will start on Jan. 11 and conclude on Feb. 15. The clinic is free, but space is limited. Call Rick Schneider at 314-539-4434 to reserve a spot today.
