April Cherry Diamond
Now that spring has sprung, it's time for Cardinals games, golf outings and fine times with wine... April is tipping off with the finals of the annual double elimination basketball tournament. Basketball has been big at the Club since the doors opened in 1903. Not only does the MAC boast some well-known former D1 players, but the Club also has a close connection to the father of basketball... Enjoy a family play day at MAC West at the Spring Family Festival. There will be complimentary fun and games for the whole family... Golf season is teeing off and MAC members can now get in the swing. Be sure to check out the special MAC rates available at courses throughout the area... With swimsuit season right around the corner, be sure to check out the focus on fitness section for tips to getting in shape... Get out and enjoy your great Club in the beautiful spring weather. Easter's On Its Way!
The MAC is gearing up for an Easter eggstravaganza. Both Clubhouses will be hosting Easter festivities for your family to enjoy. On Friday, April 3, your favorite furry friend will be feasting on family night buffet favorites at Family Night at MAC West. Children will have a chance to visit with the Easter Bunny and have a photo taken. Seatings at West will be at 5:45 and 7:30 p.m. The price to attend is $22.95, plus gratuity for adults and $10.95, plus gratuity for children ages 3-12. Call 314-539-4490 for reservations. If a more traditional Easter celebration is more your speed, the Downtown Clubhouse will be hosting a traditional Easter Brunch on Sunday, April 12. There will be a delicious brunch buffet featuring a delectable dessert table, a petting zoo with lots of furry animals and of course the Easter Bunny. Kent Miller Photography will be on hand in the Art Lounge to snap a family photo. The price is $29.95, plus gratuity for adults and $13.95, plus gratuity for children under 12. The petting zoo will open at 9 a.m. Seating times are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Missouri Room and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Crystal Room. Live Well
Do you want to live the longest and best life you possibly can? Practicing wellness can help you achieve a balance between all aspects of your life so that you can live it to its fullest potential. The West Clubhouse will be hosting a series of wellness luncheons featuring expert speakers on various wellness topics. The first wellness luncheon will be held on Thursday, April 23, and will feature Bess Maxwell. Maxwell is the co-founder of ShowMe Aquatics & Fitness. Her enthusiasm for sport and her professional dedication to exercise prompted her to establish ShowMe in 1999. Dr. Maxwell strongly believes that everyone, regardless of ability, can enjoy and benefit from exercise, recreation and sport. She will be speaking on the benefits of water exercise, particularly in older adults. Water exercise is extremely beneficial to those who suffer from aches and pains in their joints. MAC Golf Outing at Glen Echo
Glen Echo Country Club is hosting a special day just for MAC golfers. The “Missouri Athletic Club Opening Day Tournament” will be held on Saturday, April 18.  The event will consist of a 2 p.m. shotgun start, followed by a cocktail party. Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served.  In addition, there will be prizes awarded for the winners.  The event is limited to the first 48 players and the cost is $75 per golfer. This is a great way to commemorate the new reciprocal agreement with GECC and for MAC members to become familiar with this historic club. Apollos Spring Concert
Prepare to go to war with the Apollos at the annual spring concert. On Friday, April 24, the Apollos will be doing battle on stage in the Missouri Room. This year’s theme, “Songs of War and Peace,” pays tribute to America by featuring songs that gained popularity when our country was at war.  Throughout U.S. history, every military conflict has spurred composers to write music that reflects the prevailing mood of the citizenry. Come and relive the determination, heartache and victorious feelings that swept the country during these wars. The evening will begin with cocktails at 6 p.m., followed by a three-course dinner at 7 p.m. The show will start at 8:15 p.m. The cost to attend is $29.95, plus gratuity. Stogie Club NCAA Viewing
Catch the NCAA Championship game from the best seat in town, the Sportsman’s Club at the MAC. On Monday, April 6, the Stogie Club will be sponsoring an NCAA Championship Viewing beginning at 6:30 p.m. A delicious game time buffet will be set starting at 7:15 p.m. The game is scheduled to start at 8:20 p.m. The Sportsman’s Club will have several large screens set up so there won’t be a bad seat in the house. The cost to attend is $22.50, plus gratuity for Stogie Club members and $25, plus gratuity for Non-Stogie Club members. The price includes the game time buffet, unlimited draft beer, raffle prizes and cigars (for Stogie Club members only). Cigars will be available by subscription for all other members and guests. Squash Championships
Get ready to battle it out on the courts to be crowned the MAC Squash Champion. Competitors can compete in singles or doubles. The singles championships will be held Thursday, April 16 – Saturday, April 18. The doubles championships will be held Thursday, April 30 – Saturday, May 2. Racquetball Champs Date Change The MAC Racquetball Championships have been moved from Saturday, March 14, to Saturday, April 4, at the West Clubhouse. If you missed your chance to sign up, there is still time! Play will begin at 9 a.m. Olympic format will be used and each player is guaranteed at least two matches. Refreshments and t-shirts will be provided. This tournament is only open to members. There is no charge to participate.
