Pool Season is Here
The days of sun and fun are almost here! The MAC West pool will open for the swimming season this Saturday, May 23. Spending a day at the pool is fun for all ages. Squeeze in a workout by swimming a few laps in the lap lanes. Lap lanes are open at a variety of times throughout the day. Kids will have fun jumping off the diving board, playing sharks and minnows and splashing around in the water. If you have a tiny tot, the wading pool is the perfect place to park poolside. There are plenty of lounge chairs surrounding the pool deck, so if you’re more into working on your tan you won’t have a problem finding a spot to bathe in the sun. The pool will remain open until Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7. For all pool related information, including information on the MAC’s swim teams and swim lessons, click here.
For adult poolside fun, unwind with friends or co-workers at MAC West every Thursday throughout the summer. The MAC poolside happy hour will be offered from 4-7 p.m. and feature brats, barbeque chicken, homemade chips and drink specials. No reservations are required. Stop by to enjoy the beautiful weather, good food, refreshing beverages and fun with friends.

New Yoga Session Downtown If you have ever considered giving yoga a try, now is the time to do so. A new noon session is starting up Monday, June 1, at the Downtown Clubhouse. Yoga can strengthen the body and work muscles that may never have been worked before. This class is not just for women, men can find a tremendous benefit of yoga as well. Yoga is one of the few physical activities that has a "de-compacting" effect on the body which is essential to counter the effects of gravity associated with activities such as running or jogging. It also provides needed relief to such asymmetric activities as racquet sports and golf which torque the spine in only one direction. Yoga instructor and MAC personal trainer Andrew Francis gives you the top five reasons you should take up yoga today:
* Improves flexibility
* Improves muscular strength
* Improves posture and balance
* Reduces stress
* Studies show that it can lower blood pressure
The 8-week yoga session is held on Mondays and costs $50 for the session or $10 per class. Reservations can be made by calling Rick Schneider at 314-539-4434.
