Saturday, June 13, 2009 marks the day of the first ever MAC member team to participate in the Komen St. Louis Race for the Cure. All members are welcome to enjoy a Club sponsored continental breakfast whether or not you registered for the team. Come cheer on team captains Ann Schwarz and Susan McCarthy!

If you are participating in the MAC Women Rock the Walk Event for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on Saturday, June 13, avoid getting up early by staying at the Club the night before. The MAC will be offering a room rate special a single/double room for just $60. Garage parking will be included. Check in on June 12, and stay over night and be ready for the race bright and early or check in after the race and shower, rest and have dinner then visit some of the downtown attractions. Stogie Club Davidoff Dinner
The Stogie Club will be hosting a Davidoff Cigar Dinner on Wednesday, June 10, in the Art Lounge at the Downtown Clubhouse. Make plans now to attend an evening enjoying all of the finer things in life. Your night will not only include a delicious five-course dinner, but will also feature wine service and cigars provided by Davidoff and Gerard Ezvan of Jon’s Pipe Shop. The evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail and cigar reception and will be followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m. The cost to attend is $75, inclusive for Stogie Club Members and $100, inclusive for Non-Stogie Club members. Single Malt Whisky Society Tasting
The Board of Governors recently approved a request to form a new Club Within the Club - The Single Malt Whisky Society. This club will offer members a unique opportunity to journey through the highlands and lowlands of one of Scotland’s finest gifts to the world. Scotch whisky in the form of single malts has become the drink of choice among more and more connoisseurs of fine spirits. A great drink after several rounds of golf - another Scottish invention along with the kilt, the bagpipe and the famous Black Watch Regiment. To celebrate the newest club, noted author and whisky historian Bill Meyers will speak at the first official meeting on Wednesday, June 17. After a short, but interesting introduction to single malt whisky. Mr. Meyers will host a tasting of several of his favorite spirits. He has a collection of over one thousand bottles. Join your fellow members on June 17, at 6 p.m. in the Sportsman's Club, for a wonderful evening of single malts, hors d’ oeuvres, and great conversation in the warmth of familiar surroundings at the Downtown Clubhouse. Father's Day Feast
Make your dad feel like a King this Father’s Day by treating him to a delicious brunch with the family at the Downtown Clubhouse on Sunday, June 21. Seatings are available at 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. so dad will still be able to squeeze in some time on the golf course or relax for the afternoon. High School Soccer All-Star Games
St. Louis has a soccer tradition that is unmatched by any city in America. The Gateway City is regarded as the soccer capital of the U.S. St. Louis soccer fans can catch a glimpse of the next generation of soccer stars on Friday, June 12. The MAC is once again sponsoring the High School Senior All-Star games, featuring the top prep boys and girls soccer players in the St. Louis area. The games will be held at the Anheuser-Busch Center in Fenton with the girls game kicking off at 6 p.m., followed by the boys game at 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the event: $4 for adults and $2 for students. Parking is $2. |
Fourth of July Dining
Show your patriotism and celebrate the 4th of July at the MAC. There are a variety of activities happening at the Club for everyone in the family to enjoy. Grab a bite at the Club before partaking in fair festivities or heading to West to cool off at the pool. The Downtown Clubhouse will have several different dining options available on the 4th. NEW this year… the Downtown Clubhouse will be offering a breakfast buffet in the Missouri Room before the VP Parade. Grab a bite to eat and then head out the front door of the Clubhouse to get one of the best seats in town to watch the parade. A special section will be blocked off exclusively for MAC members and their guests. The Buffet will be from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The cost for adults is $16.95. Children age 3-12 are $13.95. The Downtown Clubhouse will also offer a lunch in the Jack Buck Grille from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. If you plan on spending the day downtown for all the 4th festivities, have dinner at the Downtown Clubhouse in the Sportsman’s Club. The Club is having a dinner buffet from 5-8 p.m. Breakfast and dinner reservations are suggested. Call 314-539-4470 for reservations.
If you’re looking for a cooler way to celebrate the 4th, suit up and head to West for the 4th of July Pool Party. There will be games and prizes for the kids, plus plenty of food and beverages for all. The pool party will be from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. The cost for adults is $20 and for children age 3-12 is $12. Sushi and Riesling
Riesling is a versatile wine for food pairing because of its balance of sugar and acidity. Sushi and Riesling work well as a pair. New Artist Featured in the Gallery
Russell Irwin is the current featured artist in the MAC Art Gallery. This month Russell will be displaying his scenic pieces. He will also be at the Clubhouse demonstrating his technique. Be sure to stop in and t ake a peek at his unique and interesting works of art. The Art Gallery will also feature a blown glass display from Astral Glass. In July, Russell Irwin will be back in the Gallery with some of his baseball pieces and special pieces related to the All-Star Game. Michelle L. Corey is President & CEO of the Better Business Bureau. She’ll bring the FYC up-to-date on the BBB’s recent work to expose alleged scams in the auto warranty business and mistreatment of animals in Missouri’s puppy mills. The local BBB was founded in 1917 to assist consumers and promote good business practices in eastern Missouri and southern Illinois. Among its services are resolution of disputes between buyers and sellers, warning of misleading advertising, and review of charities. Michelle will help you become a wiser consumer.
