August Cherry Diamond
The first half of summer has flown by, but there is much more to look forward to at the MAC as late summer and fall approach... In late August, swing into action to support the MAC Preservation Foundation at the second annual MAC Golf Classic. This year’s tournament is sure to be bigger and better than last year. All proceeds from the tournament will benefit the MAC Preservation Foundation, which is raising money for necessary infrastructure renovations to the Downtown Clubhouse. Put together a team and hit the links with your fellow members. If golf is not your thing, a dinner and auction will follow the tournament…. If you missed MAC favorite Erin Bode perform in June, you have another chance to catch one of her outstanding performances in September in the Jack Buck Grille…Football season is just around the corner. The MAC is your Rams pre-game destination. Stop by the Club for a bite to eat and a cold beverage before heading to the Dome. The MAC will also host a pre-game buffet before the Mizzou/Illinois Border Wars Football Game… Athletic action is still hot with new fitness class sessions starting up at both Clubhouses. The second annual MAC Sprint Triathlon will take place at MAC West in August. Compete against your fellow members in this fun and challenging course… The social seasons is just beginning to heat up. Be sure to read this month’s Cherry Diamond for details on all that is happening at the Club.

Reduce, Relax, Relief with Yoga
After a busy and sometimes stressful morning, an afternoon yoga session can be just what you need to rejuvenate for your afternoon. A new noon yoga session is starting up Monday, Aug. 3, at the Downtown Clubhouse.
Yoga will strengthen the body and work muscles that may never have been worked before. It also provides needed relief to such asymmetric activities as racquet sports and golf. For this reason, both women and men can find benefits to taking yoga.
The 8-week yoga session is held on Mondays at noon. The cost is $50 for the session or $10 per class. Reservations can be made by calling Rick Schneider at 314-539-4434.

The MAC is Platinum Again
The Missouri Athletic Club has once again been recognized as a “Platinum Club of America.” This is the highest honor in the private club industry and places the MAC among the top 3% in the United States. To commemorate this great news, the MAC is extending the Platinum Member Gift certificate program. Since last December the program has successfully recruited more than 100 new members. If you received a certificate earlier this year, you now have until the end of the year to personally offer one colleague, friend, or family member the opportunity to join free of initiation fee as a thank you for your continued support, as well as a way to share your fine Club with someone new. The program recently has been extended to include those with less than five years of membership. All certificate recipients are afforded the opportunity to join the MAC free of initiation fee (up to a $1,000 value). Please contact Cindy Tangaro, Downtown (314-539-4448) or Julie Kueper, MAC West (314-539-4408) for assistance with the program.

Fabulous Fox Theatre Outings

Any money raised throughout the year will be split among the three charities. The deadline for nominations is Sunday, Nov. 1. For a charity to be considered it must be: a local charity, non-denominational, family oriented with an emphasis on service to children and for human welfare. Nominations can be emailed to CSC Chairman Sam Hopmeier at hopmeier@aol.com. Along with the charity name, please provide a one-page fact sheet with information about the charity.
