Missouri Athletic Club New Year’s Eve The MAC Celebrates Highway 40 Opening Cruise on down the newly opened highway 40 to the Downtown Clubhouse for the best New Year’s Eve celebration in St. Louis. The city has waited two long years for the highway project to be complete, and now that it will open soon, the green light has been given to celebrate. In celebration of highway 40’s re-opening, this year’s New Year’s Eve bash is only $40 per person. This fantastic price includes hors d’oeuvres, a delicious three-course dinner, open bar from 6:30-7:30 p.m., party favors and a champagne toast to ring in 2010. The Bob Kuban band will provide the entertainment all evening long. Hors d’oeuvres and cocktails will be from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m., at which time all cocktails will be by subscription only. Trouble-Free Turkey Day at the MAC Relax this Thanksgiving and let the MAC do all of the hard work for you. Forget about scrambling around the kitchen carving the turkey, stirring the gravy or setting the table. Enjoy the chance to sit down with family and friends to enjoy a delicious Thanksgiving buffet on Thursday, Nov. 26, at the Downtown Clubhouse. The buffet will feature all your Thanksgiving favorites like stuffing, cranberry sauce, creamy mashed potatoes and traditional turkey. Kids Ultimate Dining at West The West Clubhouse is a kid’s ultimate dining destination. The Kids Club always features fun events and prizes. On Friday, Nov. 13, the Kids Club will feature a Make Your Own Pizza night at West from 5-7 p.m. Pizzas are $5 per kid. Each child will get to assemble their own pizza with toppings including sausage, pepperoni, bacon, ham, veggies and more. Be sure to join the MAC Kids Club. Call 314-539-4490 for details. Also at MAC West…Kids eat free on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 5-9 p.m. Take the whole family out to dinner for a great price. Taking Care of Business at MAC West Do you belong to a group that meets on a regular basis? The MAC West is the perfect venue! The Business Dining Room is available Monday through Wednesday and Friday mornings until 10:30 a.m. It is also available Monday through Wednesday evenings for events. Everyone who lives in the St. Louis region is proud of our nationally recognized symbol, The Arch. But how much do we really know about it? Speaker Bob Moore knows plenty about it and is ready to share. Bob is a public historian for the National Park Service at Jefferson National Expansion Memorial – comprised of the Gateway Arch and the Old Courthouse. The National Park Service recently announced plans to hold a competition for updating the Arch grounds, improvements that could include new museum and restaurant spaces and easier access from downtown St. Louis. A 25-year veteran of the NPS, Bob has been at the Arch since 1991. He is the author of eight books, including The Gateway Arch: An Architectural Dream (2005 – the 40th anniversary).
