Associates Happy Hour
Celebrate the holiday season with your fellow members at a holiday happy hour on Friday, Dec. 18, sponsored by the Associates. Bring a spouse, date or other guest and kick back with MAC friends while enjoying drink specials. This month’s happy hour will be hosted in the Jack Buck Grille Downtown. Take a break from your holiday shopping to enjoy a fun and relaxing evening. Draft beer will be $1, bottles will be $2 and well drinks will be $3.

Take the MAC Shuttle to the MO/IL Game
The MAC will have shuttle service available for the Mizzou vs. Illinois basketball game at the Scottrade Center on Wednesday, Dec. 23. The shuttle will leave from the Club at 7:30 p.m. Stop in the Jack Buck Grille before heading to cheer on the Tigers or Illini. Grab a delicious dinner or a few drinks. The MAC is a great place to meet friends to gear up for the big game.

Holiday Sports Camps at MAC West
Avoid complaints of boredom from your children this winter break by signing them up for the Holiday Sports Camps at MAC West. They will enjoy a day of physical activity and fun, and you can have some time to yourself to finish up shopping, prep for Christmas dinner or return gifts after the holidays are over. The camps will be held Monday, Dec. 21, through Thursday, Dec. 31, (excluding Dec. 25). Your child can choose to participate in the morning session from 9 a.m. to noon, the afternoon session from 1 to 4 p.m. or the all day session from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., which includes lunch. The Greatest St. Louis Has to Offer
Join members of the Charitable Society for Children as well as contributors to the annual donation at an evening to highlight how your Club gives back to the local community. On Wednesday, Jan. 13, the Charitable Society for Children will host “The Greatest St. Louis has to Offer” event at the Downtown Clubhouse. Charlie Brennan from KMOX will serve as the event's emcee. Richard LoRusso of LoRusso’s Cucina and Kim Tucci from the Pasta House will be doing a cooking demonstration with recipes that you can take home. Plus learn all about the “Story of Cannolis.” In addition to the special demonstration, checks will be given to the 2009 charities supported by the MAC: Angels’ Arms, CHADS and Lift for Life. The CSC will also announce the 2010 charities that the CWC will be supporting. Raffle prizes will be given throughout the evening. All MAC members and their guests are welcome to attend. Bring a non-member friend to show them the wonderful things the Club is doing for the community.

Eat Well into the New Year
The New Year always sparks goals of living a healthier lifestyle through diet and exercise. The West Clubhouse will help you eat better in January and February by offering an “Eating Well” menu at lunch and dinner in the Stan Musial Grille. Following your workout, grab a quick, healthy and delicious bite to eat. The MAC will supply you with the nutritional information for each “Eating Well” meal.

Hermann Trophy Banquet
The Missouri Athletic Club is home to the top individual soccer honor in the United States. On Friday, Jan. 8, find out who will be recognized as soccer’s next rising young star at the MAC Hermann Trophy Banquet. The MAC has been home to college soccer’s version of the Heisman trophy since 1986. The prestigious crystal soccer ball trophy has been presented to some of the biggest names in American soccer. Past winners include Mia Hamm, Kristine Lilly, Claudio Reyna and Alexi Lalas. This year’s finalists were announced earlier in December. The men’s finalists are Andre Akpan from Harvard, Corben Bone from Wake Forest and Teal Bunbury from Akron. Lauren Cheney from UCLA, Tobin Heath from North Carolina and Kelley O'Hara from Stanford are this women’s finalists. Make plans now to be a part of this celebration of soccer. The event is always a sellout, so make reservations now before you get shutout.

Advanced Bridge Lessons
Gain an edge in your bridge game with Advanced Bridge Lessons at MAC West. Experienced bridge players will benefit from this session of lessons taught by Linda Powers. The class will review bidding and defense with each hand. The format of the classes will consist of prepared hands as well as shuffle, deal and play. Come give the class a try and discover another fascinating part of the game of bridge.

Free Youth Beginner Swim Clinic
The MAC will host a free youth beginner’s swim clinic for children ages 5 and up. The free six-week clinic is designed to teach beginning swimmers the basics in the pool. Swimmers will become comfortable in the water and learn floating and breathing techniques. The clinic will work on getting swimmers to place their heads under water and alleviate any fears of water. The emphasis is not on times or strokes. Classes will be held at the Downtown Clubhouse on Sundays, from 2-3 p.m. The six-week session starts Jan. 10, and concludes Feb. 14. The clinic is free, but space is limited. Call Rick Schneider at 314-539-4434 to reserve a spot today.

Many will remember the warm vocal style of Bill Malcom from the Chicago trip. Now all FYCers can enjoy Bill’s artistry as MALCOM & FRIENDS present our annual holiday musical program. Bill will be joined by pianist John Smith with Dave Sanderson on trumpet. They have been together for about six years and enjoy performing for groups such as ours. You won’t want to miss this program of pop standards and holiday favorites! Looking ahead, in January we’ll learn about serving on grand juries from Ray Brodzinski of the Grand Jury Association. Then in February, Cynthia Kramer, executive director of SCOPE, will tell about the need to improve opportunities for education in science and technology at all ages.

Pro Shop Holiday Sale This holiday season shop at the MAC and save! From now through Saturday, Dec. 19, get 25% off already member-discounted prices in the Downtown and West Pro Shops. This includes all clearance items!


Holiday Dessert Sale Keep your holiday preparations simple by purchasing your desserts from the MAC. For $20 the Downtown Clubhouse is selling a sacher torte, bourbon pecan tart, white chocolate peppermint mousse tart or a cran-apple streusel. Pumpkin pies are $15 each. Call 314-539-4470 to place your order. Orders must be made 48 hours before desired pick up. The West Clubhouse is selling pumpkin rolls for $14 each. Cookies will also be sold for $18 for a dozen either gooey butter, pumpkin, chocolate chip, peanut butter or sugar. The Poolside Cafe needs 24-hour notice. Call 314-539-4444 to order from West.

Complimentary Wine Tastings Stop by MAC West the third Friday of every month for complimentary wine tastings. Tastings begin at 6 p.m. and include a variety of wines.
