January Cherry Diamond
With the start of the New Year, the heart of winter is settling in. Make the most of the Club during the cold winter weather. There are a number of upcoming social activities to help you avoid cabin fever. In January, the Club presents college soccer’s version of the Heisman Trophy. Don’t miss the MAC Hermann Trophy Banquet, where the top collegiate male and female soccer stars will be honored... In February, one of the Club’s most popular events is returning to the Missouri Room with the MAC Boxing Championship. Fight fans can catch all the action ring side as some of the top local amateur boxers square off... Also in February, one of the Club’s greatest traditions, Good Fellowship Day, will be held Downtown... While it may seem far off, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Treat your sweetheart to an evening at the Club for dinner and dancing…If your New Year’s resolution includes weight loss, then it is time to get back in the gym and start that workout regime. Several new fitness classes are starting up in January to help you kick start your weight loss resolution. If you need a little extra encouragement, consider signing up for the MAC Biggest Loser contest. You will work with a nutritionist and gain a lot of knowledge to help you on your weight loss journey... The Club membership continues to grow. If you have a friend, family member or business associate that has expressed interest in the MAC, don’t hesitate to contact the Club. The Membership staff makes it easy by handling all of the work for you. Start the New Year off on the right foot by briefing yourself on all that is going on at the Club. Be sure to check out this month’s Cherry Diamond.

Only 10 Days Remain...
Your chance to sponsor a new member at no initiation fee is about to run out. Only 10 days remain to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity. Check someone off your gift list this year by gifting them a membership to the Club at no initiation fee; it is the gift that keeps on giving. By gifting your Platinum Certificate to a family member, friend or business associate, you are giving a gift that is up to $1,000 in value. If you have been procrastinating, now is the time to act. The program will end on Dec. 31. Beginning Jan. 1, the initiation fee will go into effect. Sponsoring a new member is easy. Simply provide the Membership Department with a name and contact info. They will take it from there. Contact Patti Cundiff, Downtown (314-539-4429) or Julie Kueper, West (3140539-4408) in the membership office.

MO/IL Shuttle
The MAC will have shuttle service available for the Mizzou vs. Illinois basketball game at the Scottrade Center on Wednesday, Dec. 23. The shuttle will leave from the Club at 7:30 p.m. Stop in the Jack Buck Grille before heading to cheer on the Tigers or Illini. Grab a delicious dinner or a few drinks. The MAC is a great place to meet friends to gear up for the big game.

Be the Biggest Loser
Prepare to counter those extra holiday pounds from the endless holiday feasts and parties with a weight loss competition. To help motivate you and keep you sticking to your resolution, the MAC is hosting a weight loss competition beginning in January. The MAC’s Biggest Loser contest will provide you with the best resources to make your goals a reality. The contest begins on Jan. 18, and ends April 16. The cost is $115 per person and includes a beginning and ending health assessment by a certified personal trainer, six 1-hour “lectures/classes” covering nutrition given by a registered dietitian, beginning and final weigh-in, as well as bi-weekly weigh-ins to track the status of all the contestants over 13 weeks. Discounted personal training rates for every 1-hour session taken during the competition will be offered to participants. The winner will be the person who loses the most % of body weight, not the most pounds. Fabulous prizes will be presented to the winners. Sign up today and turn your weight loss goals into a reality. The only thing you have to lose is weight. Members who work out at Downtown or West can participate. Contact Rick Schneider at 314-539-4434 to sign up. The deadline to sign up is Monday, Jan. 4.

Wine Classes at MAC West
Starting Wednesday, Jan. 20, the West Clubhouse will host classes for everyone who wants to learn more about French wine. These classes will be taught by region and hosted every two weeks. The first class will focus on the wines of Bordeaux and will be followed by the regions of Loire Valley, Burgundy, Rhone Valley, Alsace and Champaign. The classes will be $20 per session or $100 for the full course. Call 314-539-4490 for reservations.

Fitness for the New Year
The Club is helping you jump start your New Year’s Resolution by offering five new fitness classes that start right after you ring in 2010. Both Clubhouses offer a variety of classes at various days and times, so you can always find something to fit in your schedule. All classes are taught by highly knowledgeable fitness instructors. The new classes being offered will keep your workouts fun and different. They include: Self-Defense, Kickboxing, Tai Chi, Zumba and Mat Pilates. Get away from your typical treadmill workout and mix things up with a new class one or two days a week. Group fitness classes are great motivation and make working out fun. Check out a new fitness class at the Downtown or West Clubhouses today.
