Free Youth Beginner Swim Clinic
The MAC is hosting a free youth beginner’s swim clinic for children ages 5 and up. The clinic began this past Sunday and was already a huge success. There are five weeks remaining. The clinic is designed to teach beginning swimmers the basics in the pool. Swimmers will become comfortable in the water and learn floating and breathing techniques. The clinic will work on getting swimmers to place their heads under water and alleviate any fears of water. The emphasis is not on times or strokes. Classes will be held at the Downtown Clubhouse on Sundays, from 2-3 p.m. The session concludes Feb. 14. The clinic is free, but space is limited. Call Rick Schneider at 314-539-4434 to reserve a spot today.

Even though it is a civic responsibility, many of us dread the thought of jury duty. But FYC President Judith Hanses says of our speaker Ray Brodzinski, “He is a sincere believer in the jury system and makes a very convincing case for willingly accepting jury duty and for seeking service on a grand jury.” A native of St. Louis, Mr. Brodzinski served on a Federal Grand Jury in connection with Senator Estes Kefauver’s probe into organized crime. In 1971, he was foreman of a Missouri Grand Jury investigating crime in the City of St. Louis. Shortly thereafter he became affiliated with the Grand Jury Association of St. Louis, which he later served as president. He retired from Mercantile Bank in 1994 after 48 years in the banking industry.
